Were you surprised by the sudden chill in the air overnight?
A cold northerly wind blew in along a high-pressure system today (October 22), bringing a brief, sharp cold snap this morning.
All cold wave advisories have now been lifted.
Temperatures are expected to rise gradually starting tomorrow afternoon, easing the cold.
Meanwhile, Typhoon Champi, the 30th typhoon moving northward from the waters southeast of Taiwan, is expected to veer to the right around the weekend and head toward Kyushu, Japan.
As strong westerly winds are blowing around the Korean Peninsula, the typhoon will not be able to move further north.
However, with strong water vapor being pushed up between the typhoon and the subtropical high, long spells of rain are expected to start tomorrow, mainly centered around Jeju and the southern regions.
Looking at the expected rainfall amounts for tomorrow and the day after, Jeju will see up to 80 mm of heavy rain, and there is a possibility of another round of heavy rain between Sunday and Monday when the typhoon makes its closest approach to South Korea.
Today, a day ahead of Sanggang (Frost's Descent, one of the 24 solar terms), North Chuncheon observed its first ice of this autumn, six days earlier than last year.
It will remain somewhat cold until tomorrow morning.
Seoul's morning low will be 7°C (45°F), lower than usual, but starting from the afternoon, temperatures will rise significantly to over 20°C (68°F) in many areas, climbing about 4 to 6 degrees higher than today.
The weather will turn much milder over the weekend.
The rain will expand to the Chungcheong provinces and Gangwon Yeongdong over the weekend, and temperatures are expected to drop again after the rain stops next Monday.
