A woman in her 60s who was under police protection in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, has been stabbed with a weapon at her home and taken to the hospital.
Police identified her ex-husband, whom she divorced three years ago, as the suspect and tracked him down, arresting him in Jungnang-gu, Seoul, two hours later.
Around 8:30 a.m. today, a woman in her 60s, designated as A, was found stabbed at a residence in Bundang-gu, Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province.
At the time she was found, A was breathing but reportedly unable to communicate.
She was discovered following a report from her family. Family members checked CCTV footage installed on the front door and saw her ex-husband, B, entering and leaving A's home. When they tried to contact A and received no response, they immediately reported it to the police.
B is reported to have gone to A's home at around 8:05 a.m. today, waited in front of the front door before A left for work, entered the house, and left the scene at around 8:23 a.m.
Police arrived at the scene immediately after receiving the report, but B had already fled.
Previously, A was registered as a subject for police personal safety measures on October 16.
Having recently been contacted by B—whom she divorced three years ago—demanding that she have a meal with her family, A felt anxious and directly requested personal protection from the police.
The police had designated the safety measure period until November 15 and had provided A with a smartwatch.
