Han Byung-do, floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, said, "Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon must clearly answer the key suspicions surrounding the 'Hangang Bus gate'."
At the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly today (October 19), Floor Leader Han stated, "As controversy (regarding the Hangang Bus) escalated during the parliamentary audit on October 15, the Seoul Metropolitan Government requested a police investigation the following day and is now telling the Democratic Party to stop its 'if not, so what' style political offensive."
He then pointed out, "Without answering why they delayed requesting an investigation all this time, they are only blaming the Democratic Party for raising suspicions, which is the height of shamelessness."
Floor Leader Han also emphasized, "The Seoul Metropolitan Government must clearly disclose why it withheld requesting an investigation even after drafting the investigation request, whether there were orders to destroy investigation records, and who was involved in that process."
During the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee audit of the Seoul Metropolitan Government on October 15, Democratic Party Representative Park Ju-min and others raised allegations, including that suspicious fund flows involving a broker were detected in project funds paid to the Hangang Bus manufacturing company.
Democratic Party Leader Kim Min-seok asked at the Supreme Council meeting that day to "focus efforts within the floor to address the controversial Hangang Bus issue," party spokesperson Cho Gye-won told reporters at the National Assembly.
Meanwhile, Floor Leader Han said, "During the parliamentary audit, the Democratic Party is focusing on audits for people's livelihoods, policies, and accountability, while the People Power Party—represented by the 'three immoral siblings' of Representatives Kim Tae-kyu, Lee Jin-sook, and Joo Jin-woo—appears to be competing in making abusive remarks."
Floor Leader Han added, "The People Power Party claims the Democratic Party turned the policy audit into a political battle, but the People Power Party made the abusive remarks and is shifting the blame to the Democratic Party. Before dismissing the Democratic Party's criticism as a political brawl, they should first reflect on how they conducted themselves during the parliamentary audit."
