A man who went on a stabbing rampage at a commercial facility in Incheon, injuring eight citizens, has been arrested.
Park Young-ki, the senior judge in charge of warrants at the Incheon District Court, issued an arrest warrant for A, a man in his 50s, today (October 16) following a pre-arrest interrogation (warrant hearing) this afternoon, citing a "risk of flight."
Earlier, when reporters asked, "Why did you target strangers?" and "Do you have anything to say to the victims?", A replied, "I am sorry. I have committed a grave crime deserving of death."
A family member of one of the victims, who was waiting in front of the court earlier in the day, protested against A as he stepped out of a police van, stating, "We demand a fair and stern punishment from the court."
A is suspected of attempting to murder 10 patrons with a weapon around 1:50 p.m. on October 13 at a large commercial building located in Guwol-dong, Namdong-gu, Incheon.
During police questioning, A claimed, "I had grievances against a hospital where I received treatment for a skin condition, but I also ended up under police investigation due to a report filed by the hospital," adding, "I committed the crime to make it news and bring [my grievances] to society's attention."
