Police have launched an investigation after an 80-year-old woman living alone was found dead with stab wounds inside her home in Bonghwa, North Gyeongsang Province.
According to the Gyeongbuk Provincial Police Agency and fire authorities, an emergency call reported that a neighbor discovered the victim, identified as an 80-year-old woman A, dead at a house in Myeongho-myeon, Bonghwa-gun at around 8:15 a.m. today (October 16).
When the 119 rescue team arrived at the scene, A was already dead from stab wounds, and the weapon is reported to have been left at the scene.
A lived alone and had been participating in a senior employment program.
After not seeing her for the past two days, a neighbor went to check on her this morning and discovered her body.
Police are investigating the exact cause of death by questioning people close to the victim while also analyzing closed-circuit (CC) television cameras installed in the village to check for any intruders.
