A firefighter has been seriously injured and rushed to the hospital while battling a factory fire in Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province.
The fire broke out at around 8:40 a.m. today at a four-story metal parts painting factory in Naedong, Ojeong-gu, Bucheon, Gyeonggi Province.
Upon receiving a report that the fire started in the third-floor cleaning room, the fire authorities issued a Level 1 response 19 minutes after the outbreak, followed by a Level 2 response at around 9:09 a.m.
It was reported that flammable liquids were stored inside the burning factory.
One person was rescued, and four others, including factory officials, evacuated on their own.
However, three firefighters were injured during the operation, and one of them was reportedly transported to the hospital in cardiac arrest.
Through an emergency safety text message, the city of Bucheon urged citizens, saying, "A large amount of smoke is being generated as we are extinguishing the fire at the Naedong factory, so please refrain from going outside and take precautions for your safety."
Fire authorities have deployed 80 firefighters and 38 pieces of equipment to extinguish the blaze and plan to investigate the exact cause and scale of the damage after the fire is put out.
