The project to construct an additional station around the Cheonghak Intersection, located midway between Incheon City Hall Station and Incheon National University Station on the Incheon section of the metropolitan express railway GTX-B line, has passed the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's Central Investment Review.
The 269.4 billion KRW required for the project will be fully borne by Incheon Metropolitan City, and it will be promoted in a manner that entrusts construction and operation to a private project operator through consignment and entrustment.
The additional station is scheduled to open in early 2034, following the opening of the GTX-B main line in 2031.
GTX-B is being constructed across an 82.8-kilometer section connecting Incheon National University Station in Songdo International City to Incheon City Hall, Bucheon, Yeouido, Yongsan Station, Seoul Station, Cheongnyangni Station, and Maseok in Namyangju.
The total project cost stands at 6.8478 trillion KRW, combining 4.2894 trillion KRW from private capital and 2.5584 trillion KRW from government funds.
Incheon Mayor Park Chan-dae stated, "Now that the construction of the additional station, a long-cherished project for local residents, has passed the Central Investment Review, we will proceed without a hitch in securing next year's budget and carrying out subsequent administrative procedures."
