A 13-year-old male student has been apprehended by the police after being spotted holding a knife inside a Gyeongui-Jungang Line train.

At approximately 5:10 PM yesterday, an emergency 112 report was filed stating that a male student was holding a knife on a Gyeongui-Jungang Line train passing near Goksan Station.

The report stated that the student was twirling and displaying a utility knife measuring about 20 cm in length in front of other passengers.

Upon receiving the report, police deployed patrol cars to the station where the train was scheduled to stop and apprehended the student.

During police questioning, the male student stated that he had purchased the knife to cut plastic for a school club activity and was holding it in his hand because he thought it would poke a hole in his pocket.

He also claimed that he had no intention of threatening other passengers.

Following the investigation, the police handed the student over to his guardian and plan to review whether to book him on charges of possessing a weapon in a public place.
