A foreign worker in his 40s has died in a workplace accident at a factory in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province.

According to the Gyeonggi Provincial Disaster and Safety Headquarters, a 40-year-old male of Philippine nationality, identified as A, was struck by a fragment from a grinding wheel at an auto parts factory in Wolgot-myeon, Gimpo, at around 4:28 p.m. yesterday (October 15).

A suffered severe injuries from the accident and was transported to the hospital in a state of cardiac arrest by 119 paramedics, but ultimately passed away.

Authorities determined that A was grinding auto parts at the factory, which handles metal casting, when the accident occurred.

Police and labor authorities plan to investigate factory officials to determine whether safety regulations were properly followed at the site.
