A man in his 20s who claimed he chased and killed a victim because their shoulders bumped on the street has been found to have committed the crime for valuables, according to an investigation.

The Seoul Gangbuk Police Station announced on October 14 that it has transferred the 20s male surnamed Oh to the Seoul Northern District Prosecutors' Office on charges including robbery-murder, fraud, and violations of the Specialized Credit Financial Business Act.

Oh is accused of following a man in his 70s, identified as A, whom he did not know, to A's home in Beon-dong, Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, at around 11 p.m. on October 3 and strangling him to death.

During initial police questioning, Oh stated that he "went to protest because his shoulder bumped with the victim on the street and committed the crime impulsively," but no evidence supporting this was found during the investigation.

Investigations showed that immediately after the crime, Oh took the victim's credit card and made purchases totaling approximately 4.92 million won.

He was found to have stolen a total of 9.27 million won worth of valuables, including not only using the credit card but also taking the victim's mobile phone and gold ring.

Police changed Oh's charge from murder to robbery-murder.

On October 7, the court issued an arrest warrant, citing concerns over the destruction of evidence and flight.

A police official stated, "Even after the transfer, we plan to continue conducting supplementary investigations in cooperation with the prosecutors' office."
