Suspects who set fire to Poland's Starlink communication network facilities have been apprehended, dpa and other news agencies reported on the 13th (local time).
According to Polish and German authorities, two Turkish nationals suspected of setting fire to a communication facility in Wola Krzysztoporska, Poland, were arrested the previous day at a train station in Nürtingen, southwestern Germany.
Polish Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński stated that the suspects will be extradited and prosecuted on charges of carrying out sabotage under the instructions of a foreign intelligence agency.
Tomasz Siemoniak, the minister coordinator for special services who oversees Poland's security agencies, claimed that "there is no doubt that Russia is behind this sabotage," adding that Russia is increasingly employing individuals tied to organized crime.
Police stated that they have secured evidence to prove the suspects' crimes, including video footage, fingerprints, and DNA traces.
On September 23, a fire broke out at a base station in Wola Krzysztoporska, located about 40 kilometers south of Warsaw, damaging power distribution facilities and generators.
The base station, operated by Polish state-owned telecommunications company Exatel, also utilizes SpaceX's Starlink network.
Polish authorities are investigating the incident, suspecting it to be a sabotage operation aimed at paralyzing internet services for the Ukrainian military and others.
The Polish government has been supporting Ukraine's communications by purchasing Starlink terminals and covering operational costs for the country, which has faced disruptions in internet access due to the war.
