LG Twins outfielder Park Hae-min has been elected as the new head of the Korea Professional Baseball Players Association (KPBPA) to represent professional baseball players.
The association announced today (the 13th) that Park was elected as the next president following the election for the 14th-term presidency.
With the term of current president Yang Hyeon-jong (KIA Tigers) concluding this year, the election saw 870 out of 1,010 professional baseball players participate, recording a high voter turnout of 86.1%.
The association explained that to boost participation, instead of using indirect voting methods like text messages, staff members from the secretariat directly visited each club's training grounds to conduct one-on-one voting.
Park's term will last for two years, and he will officially take office starting with the inauguration ceremony at the regular general meeting scheduled for December 1.
Jang Dong-chul, secretary-general of the association, stated, "Thanks to the proposal by President Yang Hyeon-jong and the encouragement from each club's board members, we were able to achieve an 86.1% voter turnout. We will thoroughly prepare the handover process so that President-elect Park can smoothly begin his new term starting December 1."
The future operational direction and official inauguration remarks of incoming president Park will be announced at the regular general meeting.
The association will hold its 14th regular general meeting and the 2026 Real Glove Awards ceremony on December 1 at the Dynasty Hall of The Shilla Seoul in Jung-gu, Seoul.
