The film "The Odyssey" has claimed the all-time No. 1 spot in gross box office revenue among foreign films released in South Korea.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated computer network for movie theater tickets, "The Odyssey" recorded a cumulative gross of 138,703,681,060 won as of October 10. Based on official box office statistics in Korea, this ranks as the highest revenue ever achieved by a foreign film.

This milestone surpasses the previous record set by "Avatar: The Way of Water" (approximately 137.9 billion won), released in 2022, in about four years. The achievement is all the more meaningful as it has outpaced major blockbusters that took the Korean box office by storm, including "Avatar" (approximately 125.2 billion won), "Avengers: Endgame" (approximately 122.4 billion won), and "Frozen 2" (approximately 115 billion won).

The film's cumulative domestic audience stands at 12,179,163 admissions, ranking fifth all-time among foreign films in attendance. While placing fifth in ticket admissions, the film reached No. 1 in revenue due to rising ticket prices and a high share of screenings in premium formats such as IMAX.

"The Odyssey" depicts the journey of the hero Odysseus (played by Matt Damon), who led the Greeks to victory in the decade-long Trojan War, as he embarks on an arduous voyage to return home to his wife Penelope (played by Anne Hathaway) and son Telemachus (played by Tom Holland), who await him in a kingdom rife with usurpation and power struggles in his absence. Directed by Christopher Nolan, the film stars Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, and Zendaya.
