The United Kingdom, Germany, and Poland have reaffirmed their support for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, following U.S. President Donald Trump's remarks suggesting the need for a leadership change.
According to Politico Europe on the 11th local time, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that day, "I am convinced that no one can defeat Ukraine and its president in the fight against Russian aggression."
He added, "I told President Zelensky that the Ukrainian people can rely on the full solidarity of Poland and Europe."
German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul also confirmed his support for President Zelensky that day, urging increased pressure on Russia to return to peace negotiations.
The U.K. likewise reaffirmed its support for President Zelensky.
British Defence Secretary Wes Streeting told the BBC, "We stand with President Zelensky," emphasizing that the right to choose Ukraine's leader belongs solely to the Ukrainian people.
In particular, he stated that the U.K. will work to restore relations between Ukraine and the United States.
Earlier, British Prime Minister Andy Burnham also reaffirmed the U.K.'s stance of solidarity during a phone call with President Zelensky the previous day.
European expressions of support for President Zelensky came immediately after U.S. President Trump publicly mentioned the need to replace the Ukrainian president.
Speaking to reporters at the White House the previous day, President Trump criticized Ukraine's attacks on Russian energy facilities, stating, "I think it's time for a new president in Ukraine."
Meanwhile, President Zelensky stated that day that if Russia halts its attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure, Ukraine is ready to stop its attacks on Russian oil refineries.
