Gyeonggi Province Governor Choo Mi-ae posted a message on social media directed at her own party, the Democratic Party, saying she is "quite perplexed." Ahead of the parliamentary audit of Gyeonggi Province, a Democratic Party lawmaker reportedly demanded records regarding her closed-door schedule. Combined with discontent brewing within the ruling bloc toward Governor Choo, some interpret this as internal conflict spilling into the open.

On Friday night (October 9), Governor Choo Mi-ae of the Democratic Party wrote on social media, "The National Assembly is demanding records on the governor's 'closed-door schedule,'" adding, "A closed-door schedule is not a secret schedule, and most of the governor's closed-door schedule consists of briefings and meetings."
She vented her frustration, writing, "Supposedly the ruling party, yet far from offering interest, demanding records on the governor's closed-door schedule is quite perplexing," effectively revealing that the lawmaker who requested the materials is a member of the Democratic Party.
An official from the ruling bloc commented, "Governor Choo Mi-ae has continued to publicly voice opposition to President Lee Jae-myung's personnel appointments, including the nomination of Kim Ji-yong as head of the Major Crimes Investigation Agency, so isn't it likely that some pro-Lee figures are taking a stand against her?"
In the same post, Governor Choo also raised the issue of accountability for her predecessors, asking, "Why was Gyeonggi Province's treasury left unattended without any countermeasures until it became so empty?"—a remark interpreted as targeting former Governor Kim Dong-yeon and President Lee.
A Democratic Party lawmaker on the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee, which is scheduled to conduct the parliamentary audit of Gyeonggi Province on October 13, said, "Governor Choo's attacks on the president and the administration have crossed the line," adding, "Going around saying there are problems with provincial administration does not help either the government or the Democratic Party."
The lawmaker added, "Democratic Party lawmakers are also gearing up for the parliamentary audit."
Among Democratic Party supporters, views are divided between those who disapprove of Governor Choo, accusing her of committing "team kill" for "her own politics," and those who applaud her as a politician speaking up when necessary.
