Coupang has announced that it will provide 5,000 won in Coupang Cash to customers whose orders were canceled due to a system glitch.
Coupang Eats will also compensate affected customers, store owners, and delivery riders.
A system error occurred on Coupang lasting for more than two hours starting from midnight today.
During this time, access to the app and website was unavailable, and internal computing systems also experienced disruptions.
As logistics ground to a halt, normal deliveries became impossible, resulting in some ordered items being canceled.
Coupang decided to pay 5,000 won in Coupang Cash to customers whose orders were canceled and is sequentially sending out notifications regarding the compensation and payment to the affected customers.
The Coupang Cash can be used for six months from the date of accrual.
Delivery orders through Coupang Eats were also halted.
Issues arose where store owners could not press the food preparation completion button due to the system failure after accepting orders, or riders arrived at stores but could not deliver because customer addresses could not be verified.
Coupang Eats will issue a 3,000 won coupon to customers whose food orders were canceled after placement.
Customers with a history of failed ordering attempts will receive a 1,000 won coupon.
For riders whose accepted orders were canceled during the outage time, 1,000 won will be paid if arrival at the store is verified, and the full delivery fee will be paid for orders canceled after food pickup.
Rider compensation will be automatically paid out on the next settlement date.
Compensation will also be provided to restaurant owners for orders canceled after placement.
