This is our final "Rich News" segment.
It is about the competition for winter street foods.
Mornings have gotten really chilly lately, haven't they?
When the weather turns cold like this, foods like fish cakes and roasted sweet potatoes naturally come to mind.
Convenience stores have already jumped into the competition to sell winter foods.
The convenience store industry has started selling winter foods earlier than last year.
And they are apparently selling quite well, too.
From October 1 to 5, instant fish cake sales at one convenience store chain jumped 60 percent compared to the previous week, while roasted sweet potato sales rose 50 percent.
At another convenience store, sales of disposable body warmers surged by nearly 1,500 percent.
Sales of fish cakes and roasted sweet potatoes at that chain also increased by 163 percent and 86 percent, respectively.
The industry is rolling out not only warm, ready-to-eat snacks but also successive waves of winter dessert items to capture early winter demand.
This morning is quite chilly as well.
We hope you grab a warm coat on your way to work and take care not to catch a cold.
