Marking his 100th day in office, Incheon Mayor Park Chan-dae unveiled his Incheon Rerating vision, declaring his commitment to properly evaluating Incheon's undervalued worth and securing its true value.
During a press conference held at the Incheon City Hall conference room today (October 7), Mayor Park said, "Incheon is a genuine blue-chip city with an airport, a seaport, a bio-cluster, and 3.05 million citizens. We will reclaim Incheon's true value, which has been diminished in the shadows of capital region regulations and inter-Korean tensions."
He further projected that Incheon's value will be reassessed through the advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) and the bio-industry.
Mayor Park emphasized, "Incheon is racing to attract a global AI hub to Songdo and has launched the Incheon Logistics AX Alliance to integrate AI into airport and seaport logistics. Songdo, already a vital production base for the global bio-industry, must expand beyond production to encompass research and entrepreneurship."
He also unveiled a plan to host the G20 Summit, scheduled to be held in South Korea in 2028, in Incheon.
Mayor Park proposed holding the roughly 100 ministerial-level and working-level meetings across different local governments along the west coast region.
In addition, he proposed the Korean Peninsula East-West Peace Logistics Expressway, which would connect the waist of the Korean Peninsula from Yeongjongdo, home to Incheon International Airport, through Sindo and Ganghwa, all to Goseong in Gangwon Province.
Building on this foundation, the city plans to pursue the designation of the southern area of Ganghwa as a Free Economic Zone and Ganghwa-gun and Ongjin-gun as Peace Economy Special Zones.
Mayor Park stressed, "We will transform Incheon from being the edge of Seoul into the vertex where two paths begin. To the south, we will pave a path of diplomacy welcoming the world, and to the east, a path of peace clearing away the shadows of division."
