▲ Members of a conservative civic group hold a rally denouncing the production company and lead actor in front of the home of Yoo Hai-jin, the star of the film "The Assassin(s)," located in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, on October 4.
As protests and backlash continue against the lead actors and production company over historical distortion controversies surrounding the film "The Assassin(s)," police have initiated personal protection measures for lead actor Yoo Hai-jin.
The Seongbuk Police Station in Seoul activated safety measures after receiving a request for personal protection from Yoo's management agency.
The decision comes amid growing concerns over his safety, following a rally held on October 4 in front of a detached house in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul, known to be Yoo's residence, along with threatening remarks posted online.
A police official explained that they took action after being contacted by the agency earlier today (October 6) with a request to apply for safety measures.
The official added, "Safety measures are implemented not only when a crime has actually been committed, but also when there is a substantiated concern."
