A man in his 20s suspected of theft, who fled while police were executing an arrest warrant, was recaptured about three hours after his escape.
At around 4:00 PM today (October 5), a man in his 20s, identified as A, who is accused of theft, fled from police during the execution of an arrest warrant at a parking lot of an amusement park in Cheoin-gu, Yongin, Gyeonggi Province.
A is reportedly suspected of stealing valuables from an unlocked vehicle in Chuncheon recently.
After identifying the suspect, police tracked his cell phone location and found that A was in Yongin. They located A at the amusement park parking lot today and proceeded to execute the arrest warrant.
While police were subsequently conducting a search and seizure of A's vehicle, A, who was outside the car, suddenly fled on foot.
Police immediately pursued A and recaptured him at around 7:00 PM, about three hours after his escape, inside a plastic greenhouse at a nearby farm.
Authorities reported that no civilian casualties occurred during the flight.
Police are currently investigating A to determine the exact circumstances of his escape and whether he committed any additional crimes.
