The production company of the film 'The Assassin(s)' announced that it has decided to cancel scheduled theater stage greetings and its schedule at the Busan International Film Festival in the wake of controversies surrounding the movie.
Hive Media Corp, the production company, announced via social media that it is canceling the second-week release stage greetings scheduled for October 3 – 5, as well as its attendance at the opening ceremony and outdoor stage greetings of the Busan International Film Festival.
In the notice, the production company stated, "We considered the safety of the audience and attendees in light of the recent series of circumstances surrounding the film."
The production company added that while it respects the various opinions and interest regarding the work, it is concerned that the current situation is leading to excessive pressure on the cast and crew even outside the scope of the film.
