Having teamed up with Yoon Seo-young and Song Jong-ho to secure the team gold, Lee Geon-huk focused intensely on every single shot in the individual final.
Under the pressure of having to fire five rounds within four seconds, he hit the mark with all five targets twice, taking the lead from the very beginning.
[Kim Jun-hyeok, SBS Commentator: You can even hear from the sound that our athlete Lee Geon-huk has a precise tempo.]
[Yoon Jang-hyun, SBS Broadcaster: Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Like this.]
[Kim Jun-hyeok, SBS Commentator: Yes, exactly.]
Although he allowed China's Su Renboban to tie in the final five shots, leading to a shoot-off, his calmness shone even brighter in the moment of crisis.
His first shot missed, but he hit all of the remaining four shots to dramatically force a second shoot-off. When the opposing athlete finally wavered, Lee lit up all five chances in green.
Lee raised both hands to celebrate becoming the shooting national team's only double gold medalist.
Lee, who is also the husband of Paris Olympics silver medalist Kim Ye-ji, expressed his gratitude to his wife, who supported him while he temporarily stepped away from national team activities.
[Lee Geon-huk / National Shooting Team Member: (My wife said she would change the front door password if I didn't win a gold medal.) I thought about my wife and baby during the (shoot-off), so if she locks me out like that, I'd feel a little sad. I want to tell my wife that she really worked hard and that I love her.]
