Kim Je-deok (Yecheon County Office) has been eliminated in the men's recurve individual round of 16 at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
Kim Je-deok lost to Neeraj Chauhan (India) with a set score of 4-6 (28-30, 29-29, 30-29, 29-29, 27-29) in the round of 16 of the men's recurve individual event held at Okazaki Chuo Park in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, on September 29.
Having previously cruised past Kuik Chentsin (Malaysia) 6-0 (28-26, 28-27, 30-27) in the round of 32, Kim Je-deok lost the first set in the round of 16 before winning three consecutive sets to level the match at 3-3.
However, in the fifth set tied at 4-4, he managed only 27 points, handing the victory to Chauhan, who shot 29 points.
Kim is the first Korean national archery team member to be eliminated in this tournament.
Earlier, South Korea advanced to the semifinals in all six recurve and compound men's, women's, and mixed team events.
The previous day, all four athletes competing in the men's and women's compound individual events advanced to the quarterfinals.
Kim Je-deok will continue his quest for medals in the men's team and mixed team events.
Both events will hold their semifinals on October 2.
WOOSEOK has advanced to the quarterfinals.
After defeating Abdur Rahman Alif (Bangladesh) 6-2 (30-27, 28-28, 29-29, 30-27) in the round of 32, WOOSEOK won a tight shoot-off against Reza Shabani (Iran) 6-5 (28-30, 22-26, 29-26, 29-29, 29-28 <10-9>) in the round of 16.
Trailing 0-4 after dropping the first and second sets, WOOSEOK mounted a comeback starting from the third set to tie the score at 5-5, and edged out Shabani in the shoot-off by shooting 10 points to Shabani's 9.
WOOSEOK will face Kinley Tshering (Bhutan) in the quarterfinals on October 3.
The women's recurve individual events will follow in the afternoon.
