BTS won three awards, including the grand prize equivalent "Song of the Year," at the U.S. MTV Video Music Awards held yesterday (September 28).
BLACKPINK member Lisa won "Best Pop" with her solo track "Dream."
At the MTV Video Music Awards, BTS won "Song of the Year" with "Swim," the title track from their 5th full-length album "Arirang," and also took home "Best K-Pop" and "Best Group."
This marks the first time BTS has received the grand prize-tier "Song of the Year" award.
This is their fourth win for "Best K-Pop" and their fifth win for "Best Group."
Unable to attend the awards ceremony due to their schedule, the members shared through their agency, "We were able to receive these awards thanks to those who loved our music," adding, "'Arirang' is an album that feels like a new beginning, making this award even more meaningful."
BLACKPINK's Lisa won "Best Pop" with "Dream," a track from her solo album released last year.
Lisa is the first Asian solo artist, transcending K-Pop, to win this award.
Lisa expressed her gratitude to her fans, saying that the dreams she harbored every late night brought her to where she is today.
