BLACKPINK member LISA shed tears of emotion after winning the Best Pop category at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) in the United States.
LISA was announced as the winner in the Best Pop category for her solo song "Dream" at the 2026 MTV VMAs held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on the 27th (local time). This marks a historic record as she becomes the first K-pop solo artist and the first female K-pop artist to win the award.
Upon hearing her name called, LISA appeared overwhelmed and shed tears after receiving the trophy on stage.
"Thank you all so much. Thank you for giving me this amazing award," she said. "Thank you so much to everyone who helped make this song, and thank you for the inspiration." LISA then delivered a message of gratitude directly to her fans in Thai.
"Dream" is a single collaborated with Japanese actor Kentaro Sakaguchi. In the Best Pop category, she competed alongside prominent Anglo-American pop stars such as Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, Ariana Grande, and Olivia Rodrigo, who were nominated in 11, 9, and 8 categories respectively at this year's ceremony. The Best Pop category was previously won by BTS as a group in 2020.
