U.S. Ambassador to China David Perdue said on the 25th (local time) that U.S. President Donald Trump clearly conveyed during his summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping that the U.S. cannot tolerate China's support for Iran.
Appearing on CNBC that day, Ambassador Perdue stated, "We made it very clear to them a few weeks ago that any support provided to Iran, whether direct or indirect, whether intelligence, components, or military equipment, is completely unacceptable," adding, "President Trump made that very clear once again yesterday."
He continued, "This is an issue we have continuously emphasized to them," and added, "We will not let this issue become entangled with anything else we are doing or with our commitments to Taiwan. This is a separate matter."
Ambassador Perdue also emphasized, "President Trump has been very clear about what our interests are, and that is equally true when it comes to Iran."
