The North Korean under-20 women's national football team has advanced to the final of the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, moving one step closer to achieving consecutive tournament titles.
North Korea secured a 3-0 landslide victory against Colombia in the tournament's semi-final held at the Municipal Stadium in Łódź, Poland, today (September 24).
Having reached the summit at the 2024 tournament in Colombia, North Korea has secured an opportunity for its second consecutive title and fourth overall championship with this advance to the final.
North Korea currently shares the record for the most tournament titles with the United States and Germany, having won it three times.
North Korea's opponent in the final will be Spain, which defeated Italy 2-0 in the other semi-final.
Spain previously claimed its first title by defeating Japan at the 2022 tournament, an event North Korea did not participate in.
In the match against Colombia, North Korea took the initiative in the 28th minute of the first half with Pak Ok-i scoring the opening goal during a goalmouth scramble, and then widened the gap in the 35th minute of the first half when Choe Rim-jong headed in a cross delivered from the left flank.
In the 2nd minute of the second half, Seo Ryu-gyong scored the sealing goal from the left side of the penalty area, completing the 3-0 victory.
