Singer J.Y. Park, a father of two daughters, and JYP Entertainment have made a donation to provide medical support for underprivileged children in Mexico.
According to JYP Entertainment, the initiative is part of their corporate social responsibility project "EDM (Every Dream Matters!)" to offer specialized medical support for ailing children in Mexico. The total donation amounts to 550 million won (7.5 million pesos), consisting of 450 million won from JYP Entertainment and 100 million won from J.Y. Park's personal funds.
Recently, J.Y. Park, founder and Chief Creative Officer (CCO) of JYP Entertainment, met in person with key partners and institutional representatives, including World Vision Mexico, World Vision Korea, and medical staff at the Association for the Prevention of Blindness in Mexico (APEC) Hospital, to align their efforts.
The support program aims to save children's lives and encourage their dreams by connecting children and adolescents diagnosed with critical illnesses to respective hospitals for specialized treatment, surgery, auxiliary treatment equipment, and chemotherapy. Beneficiary children are selected through a process where each partner hospital conducts an initial economic vulnerability assessment through its social work department, followed by a comprehensive review by World Vision Mexico and World Vision Korea in accordance with the donor's criteria.
J.Y. Park stated, "We love singing and performing for our fans, but the ultimate purpose of being here today is to help children." He added, "I am a singer, but I am also a father of two daughters aged 7 and 10. Whenever I see my daughters smile, I think of other children who cannot achieve their dreams due to health issues." He further shared his thoughts on the donation, saying, "Our success is entirely thanks to the love and affection sent by our fans, so I believe it is our natural duty to give back that love. I am honored to join this gathering to unite our intentions and raise awareness to help more children."
Virgilio Morales Cantón, Vice President of APEC, remarked, "It is meaningful to participate in this global social contribution project. We will provide specialized medical services to more children so they can picture the future they dream of."
Meanwhile, JYP Entertainment has been steadily carrying out medical support activities for overseas sick children in South Korea, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, Mongolia, Bangladesh, and Brazil through the EDM medical expense support program. From 2020 to the present, approximately 10.1 billion won has been provided across 10 regions, helping 4,489 ailing children recover their health and dream again. J.Y. Park has also joined this meaningful journey through personal donations, contributing 1 billion won from his own funds every year since 2022.
