Fencer Park Ji-hee (Seoul City Hall) has advanced to the final of the women's foil individual event at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, securing at least a silver medal.
Park defeated Polina Volobueva of Uzbekistan 15-12 in the semifinals of the Asian Games women's foil individual event held at the Aichi Sky Expo in Tokoname, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, on September 23.
Park, ranked 23rd in the world, reached the individual final stage in her first-ever Asian Games appearance.
The final match is scheduled to take place at 5:40 PM.
Earlier in the day, Park defeated Mina Naorem of India 15-3 in her opening match of the round of 32, and overcame Valerie Cheng of Hong Kong 15-9 in the round of 16.
In the quarterfinals against Samantha Catantan of the Philippines, she gave up the early initiative but secured a 15-10 comeback victory to guarantee a medal.
In the semifinals against Volobueva, who has a lower world ranking of 51st but boasts a strong physique as a Russia-born athlete and excels in counterattacks, Park clinched victory at the end of a seesaw battle.
A maximum of two athletes per country are allowed to compete in the Asian Games fencing individual events.
Mo Byul-i (Incheon Metropolitan City Yeongjong-gu Office), who competed in the individual event alongside Park on this day, was eliminated in the round of 16 after losing 7-15 to Komaki Kikuchi of Japan.
