The Bank of Korea announced today (September 23) that it supplied a total of 3.6 trillion won in currency to financial institutions during the 10 business days leading up to Chuseok.
From the 10th to today, the BOK issued 3.9436 trillion won worth of currency and withdrew 298.5 billion won.
Consequently, the net issuance amount, calculated as the total issued minus the total withdrawn, stood at 3.6451 trillion won.
This is a decrease of 792.3 billion won (17.9%) compared to the currency supply prior to last year's Chuseok holiday. The BOK explained that the currency issuance decreased due to the shorter Chuseok holiday period.
