Eleven domestic broadcasting contents utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) technology are set to advance to the Asia TV Forum & Market (ATF), Asia's largest media and entertainment content market, held in Singapore this December.
The Korea Communications Commission and the Ministry of Science and ICT's Korea Communications Agency announced the 11 selected works for the overseas distribution support project for broadcasting contents linked with ATF on the 23rd.
The selected works consist of 4 AI-based production support titles and 7 AI-utilized planning programs, encompassing various genres such as variety shows, dramas, and reality programs.
The SBS drama "Where Are You? Inkigayo!", scheduled to broadcast in 2027, utilized multimodal AI to implement the voices, facial expressions, and movements of virtual idols.
MBC's variety program "Rookie Director Kim Yeon-koung" utilized AI to recreate the childhood appearances of cast members, while MBN's variety program "Unforgettable Duet 2" produced flashback videos using photographic materials.
In addition, "A Real Man's Travel Method" (premiering on October 6 / scheduled on SBS Plus and MBN) implemented scenes that were difficult to shoot using generative AI.
The commission and the agency plan to showcase the selected works to overseas investment companies, support investment consultations and promotions, and assist in the global distribution of domestic broadcasting contents.
