Singer Kim Da-hyun revealed that she received a direct apology regarding veteran singer Shim Soo-bong's public criticism.
Kim shared on her social media yesterday, "I even spoke with Teacher Shim Soo-bong directly over the phone.
She offered her personal apologies, along with warm words of encouragement and comfort."
She added, "Fans must have been upset and worried about this incident. Please do not worry as I will manage my feelings well, and let us meet with bright faces."
Netizens who saw Kim's post responded that her mature demeanor in willingly accepting the senior singer's apology and comforting her fans stood out.
Previously, Shim Soo-bong took the stage at the Jinan Plateau Trot Festival held in Jinan-gun, Jeollabuk-do, the day before yesterday and sparked controversy by remarking about Kim Da-hyun, who performed right before her, saying, "The young woman who sang before me made my head spin," and "It seems like a young lady like that doesn't know what song or life is about."
Criticism spread after on-site videos containing the remarks were released online.
Critics pointed out that it was inappropriate to publicly criticize a junior singer who is still a minor, born in 2009.
It was also reported that Kim Da-hyun struggled to hold back her tears after belatedly encountering Shim's remarks through the video.
As the controversy grew, Shim Soo-bong issued an official apology through her agency, stating, "It was a blunder that went beyond common sense. I apologize for hurting my junior."
She added, expressing her remorse once again, "I expressed my deep apologies to Kim Da-hyun and her family, and during that process, I heard from her father that Kim Da-hyun played the piano and sang Million Roses at a concert. Thinking about how much she must have practiced brought tears to my eyes."
