These are the results of a survey conducted by polling firm Realmeter from September 14 to 18 among 2,057 adults nationwide and released on Monday, September 21.
When asked "How do you evaluate President Lee Jae-myung's performance in state affairs?", 34.8% of respondents evaluated it positively, while 63.4% evaluated it negatively.
According to Realmeter, positive assessments rose by 1 percentage point from the previous week, rebounding for the first time in 10 weeks and halting the downward trend.
Negative assessments remained higher than positive assessments outside the margin of error for eight consecutive weeks.
Looking at President Lee's approval rating on a daily basis, it stood at 32.9% on September 15, 32.1% on September 16, and 35.3% on September 17, before reaching 37.2% on September 18, the day President Lee held a press conference.
Realmeter analyzed, "Although the decline in approval ratings had continued due to controversies over personnel vetting and the aftermath of confirmation hearings, the rating turned upward as President Lee clarified his position on key political issues and stressed his determination to overhaul state affairs through a press conference late last week."
However, because the survey period ran through September 18, public opinion regarding the voluntary withdrawal of Justice Minister nominee Kim Seung-won, which occurred on September 19, was not reflected in the results.
Realmeter also surveyed political party support among 1,003 adults nationwide over the two days of September 17 and 18.
The Democratic Party recorded 40.2% and the People Power Party recorded 38.5%; support for the Democratic Party rose by 4.1 percentage points from the previous week, while the People Power Party fell by 3.6 percentage points.
The gap in support between the two parties has remained within the margin of error for five consecutive weeks, according to Realmeter.
