Group (G)I-DLE member Soyeon has wrapped up her promotional activities, dominating various music charts with her delightful and relatable solo track "I'll Quit My Job (Narr. Kian84)."
Soyeon released her first solo full-length album, "Awesome Life," on September 7 and carried out diverse promotional activities for two weeks with the title track. She once again solidified her status as a powerhouse in digital music with the realistic theme of "resignation" and lyrics that voice the sentiments of office workers.
"I'll Quit My Job (Narr. Kian84)" entered major domestic music site Melon's Top 100 chart and showed a sharp surge during morning commute hours every day. On September 18, 11 days after its release, it claimed the No. 1 spot on real-time charts across all major domestic music platforms, including Melon, Genie, VIBE, FLO, and Bugs. As of September 19, it also topped the daily charts on Melon, Genie, Bugs, and VIBE, demonstrating overwhelming digital power. It also maintained high rankings on YouTube Music's daily popular music videos, trending music, weekly popular songs, and daily Shorts popular songs charts. Domestically and internationally, it achieved a solo career high by maintaining top spots on Tencent Music's Korea Chart, Kugou Music's Korea Chart, achieving QQ Music Triple Gold certification, and topping the bestseller digital album comprehensive weekly chart.
The "I'll Quit My Job (Narr. Kian84)" challenge drew major attention with participation from various artists, including band EX's Lee Sang-mi, who formed a connection through the new release, along with Jaurim's Kim Yoon-ah, comedian Huh Kyung-hwan, BTOB's Yook Sung-jae, PENTAGON, CLASS:y's Park Bo-eun, and rapper Wonstein. Thanks to its catchy point choreography and lyrics, the song was actively used in video content, climbing to No. 1 on Instagram's "Trending Audio" list. As of September 20, related Reels videos surpassed 9,800, signaling a long-running box office hit.
Stage promotions were also vibrant. On the day of her new album's release, Soyeon toured the Yeouido area directly for promotion and held a guerrilla live performance in front of 1,011 audience members, signaling a successful start to her solo activities.
