The Korea Football Association (KFA) announced that it will operate an intensive reporting period for acts undermining the fairness of football matches until October 31 in order to eradicate illicit activities that threaten fairness in the football field.
Major targets for reporting include proposals, demands, or conspiracies for match-fixing; intervention or lobbying in referee decisions and exercising undue influence; providing or receiving money and valuables or entertainment; and concealing, condoning, or obstructing the reporting of related facts.
The intensive reporting period runs from today (the 21st) through October 31, and the KFA guarantees the confidentiality of the whistleblower's identity and the reported details.
Reports can be submitted through the Shinmungo Center on the official Korea Football Association website (www.kfa.or.kr) or via email (fairplayreport@kfa.or.kr).
The KFA decided to review related materials and conduct a thorough investigation into the facts regarding the received reports, and if violations are confirmed, to take strict follow-up measures in accordance with regulations through the Fair Play Committee.
In addition, the KFA decided to conduct online "Referee Fairness Enhancement and Corruption Prevention Education" linked with the Sport Ethics Center for approximately 220 senior league referees in total (including referees and referee assessors from K League 1 and 2, K3 and K4 leagues, and WK League).
Lee Yong-soo, Acting President of the Korea Football Association, stated, "The fairness of referees is the top priority for protecting the value of football and the foundation of sportsmanship," adding, "We will strive to root out various irregularities through the operation of this intensive reporting period so that the efforts of players, referees, and officials who practice fair play in the field are not undermined."
