The South Korean national baseball team, aiming for its fifth consecutive Asian Games title, has commenced its local adaptation training for the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
Led by manager Ryu Ji-hyun, the national team held a two-hour official training session starting at 4:00 PM today (the 20th) at the Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park Baseball Stadium in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, preparing for their Group B opening match against Taiwan scheduled for 6:30 PM tomorrow evening.
After arriving in Nagoya two days ago, the team was unable to be assigned a practice field by the tournament organizing committee yesterday, prompting them to warm up at an indoor practice facility arranged in advance by the Korea Baseball Organization.
Today, the players checked their condition and got a feel for the venue where they will play their match against Taiwan.
South Korea will sequentially play its group stage matches against Taiwan on the 21st, Hong Kong on the 22nd, and Thailand on the 23rd.
If South Korea defeats Taiwan, it will advance to the Super Round as the top team in its group and compete for a spot in the finals against Japan from Group A.
In the Super Round, teams compete only against opponents from the other group, while records against teams from the same group are carried over from the group stage results.
Therefore, to reach the finals, South Korea must first defeat Taiwan, its opening opponent in the group stage.
Asian Games baseball matches are being held across Okazaki Baseball Stadium and Toyohashi Municipal Baseball Stadium, with the grand final scheduled for 6:30 PM on the 27th at Toyohashi Municipal Baseball Stadium.
