Lee Jung-hoo, 28, delivered a stellar performance against Cy Young Award-winning pitcher Tarik Skubal.
San Francisco Giants outfielder Lee Jung-hoo recorded two hits in four at-bats, including a double, and drove in one run during an away game against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Major League Baseball (MLB) held at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California, on September 20 (local time).
Regaining his batting rhythm with his first multi-hit game in ten days, Lee raised his season batting average to 0.276 (148 hits in 536 at-bats).
Starting as the cleanup hitter and right fielder for the third consecutive game, Lee showed a sharp swing from his very first plate appearance, though he was robbed by a brilliant defensive play.
In the top of the first inning with two outs and a runner on first, Lee jumped on the first pitch from Dodgers starting pitcher Skubal and drove a ball toward right-center that looked destined for a hit, only to be robbed by Kyle Tucker's diving catch.
In the top of the third inning with the score tied 2-2, he legged out a fortunate single that barely cleared the infielder's reach.
Lee's bat exploded again in his third plate appearance.
In the top of the fifth inning with San Francisco trailing 4-3 and a runner on second with no outs, he laced a piercing double to right-center against Skubal to drive home a run.
In the top of the seventh, he flied out to left fielder against Dodgers relief pitcher Alex Vesia.
Despite Lee's strong performance, San Francisco lost 4-10 as their pitching staff collapsed.
San Diego Padres infielder Song Sung-mun, 30, went hitless in one at-bat in a home game against the Miami Marlins.
Entering the game as a defensive replacement at shortstop in the top of the eighth inning, Song came to the plate in the bottom of the 10th with no outs and a runner on second in a 6-6 tie, but struck out swinging.
His season batting average dropped further to 0.185 (23 hits in 124 at-bats). San Diego secured a 7-6 victory when rookie catcher Ethan Salas, who batted after Song, hit a walk-off single.
Atlanta Braves infielder Kim Ha-seong, 30, did not play in the away game against the Houston Astros, spending his second consecutive game on the bench.
Atlanta won the game 6-3.
