The hit film "The King's Warden," which surpassed 16.92 million nationwide viewers to become the second highest-grossing South Korean film of all time, is coming to the small screen four months after ending its theatrical run.
SBS will broadcast the film "The King's Warden" as a Chuseok special movie at 9:30 PM on September 26. This marks seven months since its release date on February 4, and about four months since its theatrical run ended.
"The King's Warden" depicts the fateful companionship between a young deposed king, Yi Hong-wi (Park Ji-hoon), who is exiled to Cheongnyeongpo, and Eom Heung-do (Yoo Hae-jin), a village head assigned to watch over him. Directed by Hang Hang-jun, the film stars Yoo Hae-jin, Park Ji-hoon, Yoo Ji-tae, and Jeon Mi-do.
Released targeting the Lunar New Year holiday, "The King's Warden" received enthusiastic love from audiences thanks to the actors' stellar performances and direction that combined both laughter and emotion. The film's box office success sparked a "Danjong syndrome," turning his place of exile, Yeongwol in Gangwon Province, into a popular tourist attraction.
