Following Rep. Yong Hye-in's resignation, the People Power Party has launched an all-out offensive against Minister of Justice nominee Kim Seung-won. As the Democratic Party moves to defend him, the confirmation hearing for nominee Kim is scheduled to take place tomorrow (Sept. 15).

During its Supreme Council meeting this morning, the People Power Party once again directly targeted Minister of Justice nominee Kim Seung-won, who is facing allegations including soliciting approval for new drug clinical trials.
Regarding the resignation of Ministry of Gender Equality and Family nominee Yong Hye-in, the People Power Party dismissed as absurd the political rumors circulating about a scenario dubbed "Kim-Saeng-yong-sa"—meaning protecting nominee Kim while letting nominee Yong fall.

The People Power Party emphasized that the Democratic Party is shielding nominee Kim ultimately because of "indictment cancellations," and added that it will concentrate its dispersed firepower on nominee Kim.
In response, the Democratic Party criticized the opposition party, stating that verification of nominee Kim has focused not on assessing his competence and qualifications, but on who can raise the most sensational suspicions.
Making clear that it will not be pushed back by the People Power Party's offensive, the party stated that it will respond firmly and sternly at the party level to groundless, fabricated attacks.

As the People Power Party plans to continue its offensive by repeatedly raising suspicions up to the upcoming Chuseok holiday, and the Democratic Party vows to respond aggressively against unfair public framing, tomorrow's scheduled confirmation hearing for nominee Kim is expected to serve as a major turning point shaping the future political landscape.
