President Lee Jae-myung's state approval rating has dropped for the ninth consecutive week, breaking its lowest record since taking office, according to a public opinion poll released today (September 14).
In the survey conducted by Realmeter commissioned by Energy Economy News from September 7 to 11 on 2,515 adults aged 18 and older nationwide, positive evaluations of President Lee's state administration dropped 3.6 percentage points from the previous week to 33.8%.
Negative evaluations rose 3.8 percentage points from the previous week to 63.3%, staying ahead of positive evaluations outside the margin of error (29.5 percentage points difference) for the seventh consecutive week.
The percentage of respondents who answered "Don't know" was 2.9%.
Realmeter analyzed, "Despite recent summit diplomatic moves, negative public opinion on state affairs spread due to controversies over cabinet personnel selections, the review of troop dispatch to the Strait of Hormuz, and uncertainties in real estate policies, compounded by a substantial departure among progressives and young adults in their 20s, leading to the decline in approval ratings."
In a party support rate survey conducted on 1,003 adults aged 18 and older nationwide from September 10 to 11, a reversal in party support rates occurred for the first time in about two months since the survey on June 25 to 26.
The Democratic Party of Korea recorded 36.1% and the People Power Party recorded 42.1%, respectively.
The Democratic Party fell 5.7 percentage points compared to the previous survey, while the People Power Party rose 4.5 percentage points, and the gap between the two parties was 6.0 percentage points, which is within the margin of error.
Both surveys were conducted using a wireless automated response method.
The presidential approval rating survey had a sampling error of ±2.0 percentage points at a 95% confidence level and a response rate of 4.5%.
The party support rate survey had a sampling error of ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level and a response rate of 3.6%.
