Director Lee Chang-dong's new film "Possible Love" has won the Grand Jury Prize, the second-highest honor, at the Venice International Film Festival, one of the world's top three film festivals.
This marks the first time in 14 years that a South Korean film has won an award in the festival's main competition section, and the first time a Korean film has claimed the Grand Jury Prize, the runner-up award.
For Director Lee personally, this is his first award at the festival in 24 years since winning the Silver Lion for Best Director with "Oasis" in 2002. The film "Possible Love" is set to premiere in local theaters first on the 23rd.
Meanwhile, the Golden Lion, the festival's highest honor, was awarded to "Woman Unknown" directed by Maïmouna Doucouré.
