Amid various controversies, Yong Hye-in, the nominee for Minister of Gender Equality and Family, held a press conference yesterday (the 10th) declaring her own path by stating she would give up neither her lawmaker seat nor the ministerial nomination. Here is what she said on her way to work today:

However, a public opinion poll released today showed that 61% of respondents deemed nominee Yong unsuitable for the ministerial post, while only 13% considered her suitable.

Pollster Gallup Korea released the results today of a survey conducted over three days starting from the 8th among 1,000 adults aged 18 and older nationwide.
Regarding nominee Yong Hye-in for Minister of Gender Equality and Family, 13% responded that she is "suitable as a minister," while 61% answered that she is "unsuitable."
Those who "withheld their opinion" stood at 26%.
Looking at support by political party, even among Democratic Party supporters, 26% found her suitable and 51% found her unsuitable, with the unsuitable response exceeding a majority. Among People Power Party supporters, 2% found her suitable and 81% found her unsuitable.
By age group, among those aged 29 or younger, 15% said suitable and 43% said unsuitable. In all age groups in their 30s and older, the unsuitable response exceeded 60%.
Notably, among those in their 60s, 71% responded that she was unsuitable.
By gender, among men, 10% answered suitable and 71% answered unsuitable, while among women, 16% answered suitable and 51% answered unsuitable.
In January, a Gallup poll conducted two weeks before the confirmation hearing for then-Planning and Budget Minister nominee Lee Hye-hoon showed 16% suitable and 47% unsuitable.
Nominee Yong's negative response rate is 14 percentage points higher than that of former nominee Lee.
Although former nominee Lee went through the confirmation hearing, her nomination was ultimately withdrawn.
As for Justice Minister nominee Kim Seung-won, 22% of respondents answered that he is "suitable" and 43% answered that he is "unsuitable."
Those who "withheld their opinion" accounted for 36%.
Among Democratic Party supporters, positive evaluations were higher with 42% answering "suitable" and 22% answering "unsuitable." Among People Power Party supporters, negative evaluations were overwhelming, with 4% answering "suitable" and 71% answering "unsuitable."
President Lee Jae-myung's approval rating for state affairs stood at 38% for "doing well" and 51% for "doing poorly."
Compared to Gallup's poll from last week, President Lee's approval rating dropped by 2 percentage points, falling into the 30% range for the first time and breaking the lowest record since taking office.
As for the reasons for negative evaluations, real estate policy accounted for 24%, personnel appointments 16%, and economic livelihood 10%. It drew attention that responses citing "personnel appointments" increased by 7 percentage points compared to last week.
