Moon Do-yeop, who will compete as a member of the men's national golf team at the upcoming Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, has climbed to the sole lead after the second round of the Korean Professional Golfers' Association (KPGA) Tour Shinhan Donghae Open.
Playing at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club Korea in Incheon today, Moon carded nine birdies and two bogeys for a blistering 7-under-par in the second round of the 42nd Shinhan Donghae Open.
With a cumulative total of 10-under-par, Moon claimed the top spot on the leaderboard, finishing one stroke ahead of second-place Yujiro Ohori of Japan.
Having secured six career wins on the KPGA Tour and one victory this season at the Gyeongbuk Open, Moon is now eyeing his seventh career win and second victory of the season.
Moon is scheduled to compete in the upcoming Asian Games alongside Kim Joo-hyung and Kim Sung-hyun, targeting gold medals in both the individual and team events.
Japan's Yujiro Ohori sits alone in second place at 9-under-par, one stroke behind Moon, while Ok Tae-hoon, who swept major categories last season including multiple wins (three victories), the grand prize, lowest scoring average, and the money title, is tied for third at 8-under-par alongside Jang Yu-bin, who is pursuing his third win of the season.
Co-sanctioned by the Japan Golf Tour Organization (JGTO), the tournament rewards the champion with a five-year exemption on the KPGA Tour and a two-year exemption on the JGTO.
The tournament, offering a total purse of 1.5 billion won with 300 million won going to the winner, runs through this Sunday (the 13th).
