A passenger car driven by a driver in their 80s collided with another passenger car at a three-way intersection in Sanjeong-dong, Mokpo, South Jeolla Province, before subsequently crashing into five parked vehicles.
At around 9:29 a.m. today (the 11th), a passenger car driven by a person surnamed A, which was traveling straight, collided with a passenger car making a right turn.
Following the initial collision, A's vehicle traveled straight for about 100 meters, crashed into five vehicles parked at a nearby National Agricultural Cooperative Federation parking lot, and came to a stop.
As a result of the accident, a person in their 70s riding in the front passenger seat of A's vehicle complained of back pain and was transported to the hospital.
During police investigations, A reportedly stated that they "stepped on the brake, but the car did not stop."
Police found that A was neither under the influence of alcohol nor driving without a license at the time.
Police are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
