Another public opinion poll released today (September 11) showed that the public overwhelmingly believes nominees Kim Seung-won for Minister of Justice and Yong Hye-in for Minister of Gender Equality and Family are unfit for their respective cabinet posts.
According to the Gallup Korea poll conducted from September 8 to 10 among 1,000 adults aged 18 and older nationwide and released today, 61 percent responded that nominee Yong is "unfit" for a ministerial post, while 13 percent said she is "fit," and 26 percent withheld their opinion.
For nominee Kim, 43 percent responded he is "unfit" and 22 percent said he is "fit," with 36 percent withholding their opinion.
Even among supporters of the Democratic Party, negative responses regarding nominee Yong (51 percent) were nearly twice as high as positive ones (26 percent).
In contrast, for nominee Kim, positive responses (42 percent) outweighed negative ones (22 percent).
Regarding the deployment of troops to the Strait of Hormuz, 55 percent responded that troops "should not be deployed," significantly outnumbering the 32 percent who said they "should be deployed," with 13 percent withholding their opinion.
Public opinion on troop deployment was sharply divided by political affiliation.
Among Democratic Party supporters, 69 percent opposed the deployment, whereas among People Power Party supporters (285 respondents), half (50 percent) answered that troops should be deployed.
This survey was conducted through telephone interviews using randomly sampled wireless virtual numbers.
The sampling error is ±3.1 percentage points at a 95 percent confidence level, with a contact rate of 46.7 percent and a response rate of 9.4 percent.
