Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Kim Jeong-kwan has arrived in the United States to coordinate matters related to US investments.
Speaking to reporters at Newark Liberty International Airport, Minister Kim stated, "I have come to finalize the US-bound investment negotiations," adding, "I believe negotiations remain ongoing until the final signature is placed."
Minister Kim is scheduled to stay in the US until the 12th and meet with US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and other officials.
The Wall Street Journal reported that the South Korean government has prepared a plan to invest more than 100 billion dollars in energy sectors, including nuclear power plants, as its first project for US investment, bringing an agreement close to realization.
