80-Year-Old Passenger Falls From Bus Moving With Doors Open, Left Unattended for 18 Minutes Without Report

A terrifying accident occurred in which an 80-year-old passenger fell onto the road and sustained severe injuries after a city bus suddenly moved off with its doors still open while the passenger was getting off.

According to the victim's side on the 10th, at around 9:15 a.m. on the 7th, an 80-year-old individual identified as A fell out of a city bus that had arrived at a bus stop in Cheongjeon-dong, Jecheon.

A, who had difficulty moving, was walking down the bus's exit stairs while leaning on a handrail at the time, but the bus suddenly pulled away with its doors open before A's feet even touched the ground.

Losing balance due to the sudden departure, A fell straight onto the asphalt ground.

Footage capturing the moment shows the bus suddenly moving forward as A wobbled and helplessly fell out of the vehicle.

Due to the accident, A suffered fractures to the spine and other areas, receiving a diagnosis requiring six weeks of treatment, and is currently hospitalized.

A's family expressed outrage not only over the accident itself but also regarding the bus driver's response afterward.

A's side vented, "Immediately after the accident, the bus driver did not report it to 119," adding, "Without taking proper measures, A was left unattended at the scene for about 18 minutes before being transported to a hospital emergency room using a bus company vehicle."

Following the accident, A's family reported the incident to the police, asking them to investigate the driver's negligence.

The bus company stated, "The driver reportedly started the bus without noticing that A was getting off." They added, "Following the accident, we instructed our drivers to be careful and make sure all passengers have fully alighted before departing."

They also explained, "The driver was startled by the sudden accident and flustered, which is why they failed to report to 119," and stated, "We will do everything we can to provide necessary support for A's swift recovery."
