President Lee Jae-myung, currently visiting France on a state visit, has nominated attorney Kim Ji-yong as the inaugural head of the Serious Crimes Investigation Agency and decided to request a confirmation hearing from the National Assembly.
Kang Yu-jung, senior presidential spokesperson, stated during a local briefing, "Kim is evaluated as the right person to swiftly stabilize the upcoming Serious Crimes Investigation Agency as an expert in investigation and law."
Kim, a graduate of the 28th Judicial Research and Training Institute, has served as the head of the Criminal Department at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office and as the deputy chief prosecutor of the Gwangju High Prosecutors' Office, and has worked as an attorney until recently.
