San Francisco Giants outfielder Lee Jung-hoo bounced back with a two-run single after recently experiencing a batting slump and getting a day off.
Starting as the fifth batter and right fielder in an away game against the New York Mets at Citi Field in New York today (September 7), Lee recorded one hit in four at-bats with two RBIs.
His season batting average remained unchanged at .280 (139 hits in 496 at-bats).
Lee had struggled in his previous five games from the Atlanta Braves game on September 1 through the Mets game on September 4, batting .063 (1 hit in 21 at-bats), and did not play in yesterday's game against the Mets.
After flying out to the outfield in his first at-bat in the second inning, Lee came up for his second plate appearance with two outs and runners on second and third in a scoreless fourth inning.
He attacked the first pitch from Mets starting pitcher Christian Scott, smacking a go-ahead, two-run single to right field just over the infield.
Collecting two RBIs at once, Lee brought his season total to 53 RBIs, nearing his total of 55 RBIs from last season.
In the sixth inning, he hit a sharp line drive toward right-center field that looked destined for a hit, but it was robbed by a stellar diving catch from Mets right fielder Carson Benge.
He was retired on a lineout to the third baseman in his final at-bat in the ninth inning.
In the bottom of the eighth inning with San Francisco leading 2-1 and one out and a runner on second, Lee made a sliding catch on a ball hit by Francisco Lindor to prevent a run from scoring.
However, the Giants allowed a comeback three-run homer to Bo Bichette with two outs and runners on first and third, losing the game 4-2.
