▲ Jurado pitches in a game 61 days after recovering from right shoulder inflammation
Samsung Lions foreign right-handed pitcher Ariel Jurado returned to the mound after 61 days to pick up his sixth win (one loss) of the season.
Starting the away game against the LG Twins in the 2026 Shinhan SOL KBO League at Jamsil Stadium in Seoul today (September 6), Jurado pitched 5 2/3 innings, throwing 102 pitches while giving up six hits, one walk, and four runs.
Replaced in the bottom of the sixth inning with two outs and a runner on first with Samsung leading 7-4, Jurado wrapped up his return outing with four runs allowed after relief pitcher Miyamori Satoshi finished the inning without giving up any additional runs.
Samsung defeated LG 10-4 to maintain its top position.
After earning his fifth win of the season against LG on July 7, Jurado was placed on the injured list due to right shoulder inflammation and underwent treatment and rehabilitation. In his return match, he immediately ran into trouble in the first inning by giving up four consecutive hits, eventually surrendering four quick runs wrapped around a total of five hits and a sacrifice fly.
However, from the second inning until the moment he was pulled, he allowed only one hit and one walk, giving up no further runs.
In the meantime, the Samsung lineup rallied in the fourth inning as Lewin Díaz hit a center-field single to bring home two runs, and Koo Ja-wook tied the game 4-4 with a right-field single in the fifth. Samsung then turned the game around 5-4 thanks to a double by Díaz into left-center field.
In the sixth inning, Park Seung-gyu hit an RBI single to right field to extend the lead to 7-4. In the seventh, with one out and runners on second and third, LG relief pitcher Woo Kang-hoon gave up two consecutive walks and hit a batter, conceding two runs on consecutive bases-loaded walks, which completely tilted the momentum toward Samsung.
Koo Ja-wook led the offense going 3-for-4 with two RBIs, and Díaz contributed two hits and three RBIs.
